And so it begins...
A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away...no, wait, sorry! Wrong story!
Well, here we are! The start of a life-changing journey! I mean, there isn't much physical journeying going on right now, but the idea of The Travelling Drummer has come a long way over the last year or two.
From the humble beginnings of a young boy dreaming of seeing the world and doing nothing but play drums, to the concept of travelling the globe, learning all about what it has to offer, the people I can learn from and the rich musical heritage each country has to give - this idea has exploded out of my wildest imagination! I would never have believed when I had this brainwave, it would eventually start to materialise into what is effectively a dream come true!
Don't get me wrong, there's still a long way to go before I board the first plane with a one-way ticket to some far-off land to bring you the first interviews, lessons, venue guides and travel tips, but I'm knee-deep in the planning phase to ensure it all happens!
Everyday I'm researching and making contact with people all over the world to ensure the video lessons I bring you are the best I can acheive (I'm my own harshest critic!) As much as I'm aiming to do the majority of this project on a whim - travelling freely with very little in the way of a schedule - to have the contacts ready and willing to feature in lessons will make this job (if you can call it that) so much easier!
I'm busy investing in the equipment I'll need to take with me on the trip. It has to be great quality, durable, tough and obviously small enough to take in a backpack! Let me tell you, that's no easy task! In a future blog post, I'll give you the lowdown on some of the gadgets that will be helping to bring you the Travelling Drummer series, including a rather cool drone by the name of Lily!
I want to leave this first post relatively short and sweet but this is just to remind everyone that the website is on its way to being completed and I've set up a Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and Instagram accounts which means you'll never miss a beat (pun definitely intended!)
